| Son of Christian Weber and Anna Mischler, Johan Christian was baptized 13 Nov 1732 Schwarzenburg Chapel, Bern, Switzerland (page 59 Schwarzenburg Chapel/Wahlern Church Book). Those who testified to Christian Weber's baptism were: Ulli Gilgen, Jacob Aman, and Ana Dubach. Christian was age 3 when he arrived in Philadelphia with his parents and older brother on the Bilander Oliver on 26 August 1735. Taxed in Cocalico Twp. in 1771 (100 ac); 1772 (50 ac cleared, 50 ac woodland, 2 horses, 2 cows); 1781 (130 ac, 1h, 5c); 1783 (130 ac, 1h,1 outbldg, 2 h, 4 c, 6s); 1786 (130ac, 2 h, 3 c). Christian was taxed on a two-story stone house 36' x 26', an old log house, log barn, and cooper shop. To build this stone house and other structures on 130 acres of land that sits astride Cocalico and Brecknock Twps, Christian took out a "mortgage" or indenture on 29 Apr 1763 from Peter Reyer. The stone house and barn still stand (Gehman School Road crosses Rte #897 Dry Tavern Creek Road). The Martin family lives there now. Much of the original farm's acreage was taken by the turnpike and route 222.
